They sure don't make fundies like they used too , Since you never see self identified evangelical fundamentalist supporting the women's movement nowadays, do you?.
Despite his infamous role in the scopes monkey trial, W.J Bryan was the rare kind of christian politician, the kind that was a credit to his faith, unlike the slimy disingenuous sacks of shit that fundamentalism is now associated with!

@kawaiigardiner William Jennings Bryan democrats of the 19th & early 20th century were not like today's christian social conservatives , they were actually true "christian" fundamentalist when it came to issues concerning the working poor & downtrodden, They were more suspicious & distrustful of big banks & corporate monopolists, Bryan in particularly supported Populist causes favoring the lower middle class at a state level, which is why he was called "The Great Commoner".

I tend never to listen to DjLandCole, Coughlan616 or Proteanviews responses to Pat Condell. I feel as though that they always seek to disproove what he says, no matter what it is, just because it is the great satan (condell) who says it. If Condell says "this conversation is over" they say "this conversation is under".

@kawaiigardiner I agree with your sentiment. But I don't see how to get there without trouble. Fox News is carpet bombing false narratives such as that there is a "war on christmas". This isn't some non-ideological or non-political play-ground where some mild concession works. In fact the whole struggle in the US is that the religious right tries to erode the separation of church and state at all levels, but not to get secularism, but to get theocracy.

Damn right!

@GMoneyStillTippin420 hell yeah to the whole thing but especially the last part. It's a personal matter that you should celebrate in yourself and be happy with it. I know I am :-). Finally finding your place in that realm brings much contentment and peace to your life. No matter what I dabbled in out of curiousity, I always came back to Judaism. Now I know and there's no turning back.

@kawa 2. ass mofos around and finally kicks this shit to the curb where it belongs. Israel will NEVER go back to 67 and the complete and utter left morons and other morons who think 67 borders will satisfy their little western sensibilities should be shipped to fucking Gaza and made to live under Hamas till they get it. I can't believe the Western ignorance on this issue. I see it here on YT and I'm just amazed at the level of stupidity.

@kawaiigardiner Well I'm sure you know how many times the "palestinians" rejected the state solution in the past so I won't bore you with repeating it. It's at the point now where, imho, there's gonna be a civil war in Gaza (actually there are small uprisings against Hamas). I don't know yet what will happen in the West Bank but you and I both know this conflict is going to continue until Israel either gets left alone, another Intifada where hopefully Israel will be the baddest
The first real war on Christmas was waged by the fundamentalist puritan movement in the early colonies in new England, A puritan governor had even outlawed Christmas festivities in 1659 because they were deemed "un-christian" & heathenish.

@Obasiliasfilosofos True; IIRC Christmas was originally 'celebrated' (if you could call it that) via prayer, fasting, attending mass, reading the bible etc. but then again it reminds me the evangelical movement in the US and their embrace of hyper-capitalism whilst claiming that being a rich greedy fuck is proof of via the 'blessings' of wealth.

When someone in a democratic society doesn't support another democratic society (Israel) then I get suspicious of them.

@GirlonFilm1969 Agreed or when they partake in the moral relativism of, "well, I don't want to impose my values on them" when it comes to standing up for what should be universal human rights. The left long ago lost their backbone - when you compare the writings of even 50-100 years ago by left wing academics to today it truly is pathetic to see the lows that the left have dived too - it really is. Their claim to the moral high ground is as ridiculous as a BNP member claiming the same thing.

Oh don't get me started on Finkie. Palestinians don't want 2 states. They want the Jews in the sea. It's really that simple. There will be no going back to 67 borders b/c they're indefensible. I'm surprised you're talking about this since there's so much anti-semitism on this site. So I take it you support Israel?
GirlonFilm1969 2 months ago
@GirlonFilm1969 Agreed - that is the reality of the situation; both Hamas and Fatah see any sort of peace as temporary in the long march to wipe Israel off the map. Neither party have any concept of the idea that a two state solution should be the final end goal - and that is the reason why Israel can never make peace with the Palestinians/Arabs until such time that both parties change their mandate to wanting a permanent peace with fixed and final boarders with Israel.
