  • That's a valiant effort, but if you have the immense amount of time and energy that is required for this task, go ahead. It will be a remarkable wall. -Marcin

  • looks like some rough living, not that anything is wrong with that. I hope youre still doing ok there.

  • It's not to bad, the floor is dirt but you just wear shoes all the time. Right now we are in "long emergency" mode while building the Global Village Construction Set. The cordwood is mostly sealed up from the wind thanks to Brittany, and it makes pretty good insulation. We have a great stove in here that keeps it nice and warm and is fairly easy to use.

  • Might I Suggest the building/usage of geodesic domes? Seems like a faster/cheaper way to build a shelter

  • Do you have to use concrete mortar or can you also use a cob mixture. I live in North Carolina and the soil is mostly red clay. I would like to try this using natural materials if possible.

  • This seems silly to me. What is the difference between using short-cut logs and milled lumber? What is being used to seal the logs9(against water and insects)? What is being used to seal inside from outside (gaps in wood)? Why not have a floor? Landscape fabric for a roof? It is porous. The vid is not good, but even w/it's little info there are a lot of questions/problems.

  • I have a question for you. I want to build a cordwood fence. I want to use foundation forms spaced 8" and cut the wood 6" filling the 1" spaces one the ends with morter and alternating mortar wood, mortar wood leaving a smooth finish on each side but in-filling with scrap lumber to save money on block and cement. I have tons of scrap wood here. I would have to soak the wood so it wouldnt expand of course. I think it would be ok for it to shrink when it dried but expansion would be bad. D.
