Nope, cuz he didn't. Our foreign policy of requiring countries to do right by us before we'll talk to them, has kept us at arm's length and a step behind everything that happens. Better to step in and talk before the situation worsens.
Oh and Georgia attacked a Russia friendly town/city before Russia attacked Georgia, maybe they shouldn't've done that, to avoid any reprisal by Russia.
