Lyrics
Pioneer of aerodynamics
(little eiffel, little eiffel)
they thought he was real smart alec
(little eiffel, little eiffel)
he thought big they called it a phallic
(little eiffel, little eiffel)
they didn't know he was panoramic
little eiffel stands in the archway
(little eiffel, little eiffel)
keeping low doesn't make no sense
sometimes people can be oh so dense
they didn't want it but he built it anyway
(little eiffel, little eiffel)
little eiffel stands in the archway
(little eiffel, little eiffel)
keeping low don't make sense
keeping low doesn't make no-sense
(little eiffel, little eiffel)
little eiffel stands in the archway
oh alexander i see you beneath
the archway of aerodynamics.

How the hell was this not a hit? I don't get it... This is good as any of the "grunge" songs of the time, it should've been pretty big. Pixies got pretty screwed by being so overlooked when so many bands that used the Pixies sound dynamics went huge.

this must be how Frank Black started losing his hair...and hit or not, this is one of my favorite Pixies songs. the fact they were so overlooked just makes them that much more awesome , a slap in the face to all of those who never have and never will get it, oh well, their loss.

Yeah there not singing the typical punk stuff. That's what makes it interesting and awesome to look up in a book.

The Pixies were just a bit too ahead of their time. Trompe Le Monde did reach no 7 in the UK charts so they didn't do that badly. Without Pixies there would be no Nirvana. Imagine that!

Well, look at it this way. If it had been a hit, you wouldn't be able to gripe about how it was never a hit.

Also, it is kind of understandable, I mean it's a little... abstract. I mean, you hear plenty of punk and hardrock about broad non-conformity and broken relationships and anger at society and such. Not as often about famous architects. Seriously, if you listen to the radio, the themes of the lyrics are usually pretty... obvious. What the fuck is Alec Eiffel even about? It's great, but???
