We have been suspecting that one of our dogs has been having seizures. Although, we hadn't seen him have a seizure, we witnessed him acting weird and suspected that this behavior may have followed a seizure. This was the first time we witnessed our Portuguese Water Dog having what we think is a seizure.

  • Did you ever figure out what was causing it and is the potassium bromide working? Our lab just started having similar episodes and the vet's don't know why. We aren't sure if we should take her to a neurologist or put her on medication. Thanks for your help!

  • @SLOIFF The potassium bromide works pretty well. He does have some breakthrough seizures from time to time. Especially if he is startled by something.

  • Did you ever find out what was wrong with your dog? I have a pomeranian that does the same thing and after many tests and experts viewing the video of his episode they "think" it may be a focal seizure but are not sure. The video of your dog look just like what mine does so I was curious to see if you got a diagnosis or if the dog has gotten worse. Thanks

  • @amrobin2004 They told us he has epilepsy.

  • Aww, poor babys........my dog has the same kinds of attacks. She TRYS to walk, like yours does.....we pet her and try to rub her back end like you did....it seems to help. I can't afford to take her to the vet right now,i lost my job in November (2011), have you taken Molly to one? Is there ANYTHING i can do at home??? Thank you...Cyndi/Hawklady1216

  • @hawklady1216 Unfortunately I don't know of anything you can do to prevent the seizures without medication.

  • poor dog, but at least the other one was by his side

  • To be honest, that looks more like a Vestibular syndrome attack and not epilepsy.

  • My Dog gets them bad were he gets up on his back legs and falls its sad to watch it happen :(

  • I want to like this video because it is showing people what to expect but i don't like how it makes me feel watching it.
