Set up external monitor/TV to Macbook Pro

Please be patient, I am a noob at this, I know this tutorial could be 2 minutes in length, but my production is fail...

How to setup and view an external monitor/TV on a Macbook Pro while the lid is close. Things you need: a mini display port to DVI adapter, a DVI to HDMI cable, external keyboard, and a external mouse. The mini display port is the white part and is connected to the dvi to hdmi cable, which is black.

And wil this work fine with macbook white (newest)?

@DreceonMW2 It depends on your TV if it supports VGA, HDMI or both. Mine supports both but I choose the HDMI because, from what I've read, the HDMI is better quality. It should work with you Mac unless it doesn't have an external output...

Does the macbook get really hot after a while?
