The first train of our day at the Folkston Funnel for RailWatch 2011. CSX SD50-2 number 8532 is leading an intermodal with one of the most badass horns I have ever heard on a locomotive. The trailing unit is C40-8 number 7530, in fresh paint! Oh, and Fenris says hello. :3

Can anyone identify this horn for me? The closest thing I could find was the super-rare Leslie S3E, but that can't be right. Can it?

Video taken on April 2nd, 2011, at the Folkston Funnel in Folkston, Georgia, USA.

  • K5LLA

  • I now STRONGLY believe this to be a new K3HL!

  • yeah lol not a K5HL and def not a K3LA its a K5LLA.

  • I still don't hear it.

  • Actually, with watching this video again, it sounds like a K5LLA, not a K5hL. Sorry...K5LLA-one of my favorites!

  • Sounds like I need to start listening to more K5LLAs, then, because this still sounds NOTHING like the K5LLAs on CSX's GEVOs. xD

  • It could be a K3HL!

  • @SpeakerPolice Search NS sd70ace on youtube. ALL GEVOS are built with the K5hll. While K5llas are standard on the EMD sd70ace.

  • Great catch! This horn is actually a K5HL. The GEVO horn. Whatever horn was on it probably broke, so at the shops, they put on it whatever they had. And this works!
