@geekforlifevandc That is messy. Easier to just evenly apply a small layer on entire heatsink with your glove-covered finger. Then, press the heatsink from one side first. This also prevents bubbles. And no mess.
-
@pratt123 there is a benefit but having the bubbles ruins it you have to put a large glob in the middle and put on the cooling system and make sure there is paste on all sides then just take the paste from the sides and take it off

@geekforlifevandc So you are saying that there is no benefit in having more surface contact for conducting heat away from the CPU. What a noob statement.
-
@pratt123 the cores are located in the center the edges are pointless to cover

@TheUnPlayable Check Benchmark Reviews' multi-year study on 80 different thermal pastes. He is actually doing it the right way (although not so well in the execution of the method). Putting a dot or line leaves too much excess compound near those locations but does not cover the edges properly. If you put enough to cover the edges, it will most likely also come off the edges as well (not good).

@WhiteHawk137 if you have a HDT heatsink that wont work at all

AMD Duron K7 :D

@WNxLone Oo Yeah that's barrely what I said....

@TheUnPlayable Maybe because this video was uploaded 5 years ago? derp?

Lol people... Everyone knows that the dot or line method is better.... But 5 years ago, that method was the recommanded one. Yeah i know its retarded ^^
Is it so hard? Just put a little blob on the middle of the headspreader and THATS IT. If you have an Intel Quadcore processor, like an i7, put a little line. Don't spread it like this, it wil cause airbubbles!
