@1941pearl These days a .45-70 is expensive enough, a .45-120 is about through the roof. I have a .45-70 Trapdoor that I love to shoot, but I have to reload to keep price with the cost of ammunition these days.

@1941pearl The cartridge used by the Quigley rifle was a .45-110. The cartrige case would be about 3 inches long as the 45-120 used a 3.25 inch case. The .45-90 uses a 2.5 inch case, and the 45-70 uses a 2.1 inch case, for reference.
The 45-90 and the 50-90 were the two most popular Sharps calibers for buffalo hunting in the 1870's. The 45-90 would often kill 2 buffalo with one shot at 500+ yards, witnesseed many times in the 1870's!
