It's a concertina!

I met Roger, a concertina player, at a music workshop in Frederick, MD a few weeks ago. I'd never played one before, and during one of the breaks, he let me try his. How could I not fall in love with it! It has such a beautiful texture, and it's wildly different from anything I've played before, with the buttons/bellows and such.

He and his friend are kindly letting me borrow their concertinas for the remainder of my stay here...I'm really honored that they trust me with their beautiful instruments.

This one is a Stagi with a Hayden fingering; I started playing it a couple hours ago...the buttons going up the left side sounded like an oddly familiar tune. After messing with it a bit, I found it :)

I love it. Sounds very special at 7:32 in the morning with birds twittering and sun coming up over the hills. Flute and concertina tango music go well together too, but I think they use a bandoleon?

I've also started on a concertina recently which is also on lone to me by one of my dad's friends who collects lots of old concertinas and has sold a collection to a museum in america. Might also be looking at violin again. Btw very skilfull i wasn't very tuneful on my first try and to finish i might have an idea about a collab if you're not too busy.
