@BCXX11 well actual bullet diameter is .224. and 22lr is .222 yet they both are .22 when they leave the barrel since that is the diameter of the bore. the 5.56 converts to .22. since nato rounds measure the bore rather then bullet diameter. 7.62 is .30 though most use a .308 projectile. 7.62X39 uses .311 . The bullet needs to be larger to create a good seal to build up pressure.
