  • To anyone who says that this is pointless because it is not likely to happen, I would point out that many of the TMA techniques people learn also seem pointless very often as well. But people eat those up no problem. Conversely, this video shows that grappling is not just important, but NECESSARY skill-set to have for anyone serious about self defense. There is no grappling Vs Standing debate, because ideally you should be highly trained in BOTH or you suck. A coin has 2 sides. Always.

  • It's nice to see that someone is answering this question.

  • @joey20112 *Psst* Your lack of familiarity with the subject is showing. It is pretty common knowledge at this point that pistols can't cycle if the slide is being held by a hand. If there is something blocking the slide, (a hand) it will not cycle, which means that it can only fire ONE shot, not multiple. The slide isn't going to be "bolting back and forth", it's gonna be stuck in your hand and that is a FACT that can be easily tested. And going for the wrist gives you NO control of the gun.

  • While these ideas are nice in theory, I can't think of a situation where an assailant armed with a gun would be in my guard or even on his knees.

  • These are all great ideas, though not very practical. You may be controlling the direction of your attacker's gun but at the same time, that attacker is panicking and firing the weapon rapidly. I highly doubt you'll be able to hang on to that barrel with a lightning-fast slide bolting back and forth. I wish I could say these were more practical, but gun disarms should deal with control of the wrist before the gun is even at a point where you can grab it. Otherwise, there's too much at risk.

  • @VideoGameBandit the point is this aspect shouldn't be ignored

  • @jamespohh Then what's your point, exactly?

  • awesome material !!

  • @VideoGameBandit Yes we'd all have to. They do that already in my school. Stickfighting while grappling and knife fighting while grappling.

  • @jamespohh I guess you'd better learn to defend against knives in the grapple too, then. :]
