Harp - Diego Laverde workshop - Golpe de Caraco FINAL together played at Clive Morley Harps, during a workshop.
Diego Laverde extends a warm invitation to come and enjoy the melodic and rhythmic sounds that are part of everyday life in Latin America and especially of the people of Colombia and Venezuela. "El Arpa Llanera" - the "Harp From The Plains" - has been enjoying an amazing renaissance over the last 70 years thanks to the playing and creativity of many harpists living in Latin America
Learn the styles of Latin America and skills of rhythmic and melodic comprehension, allowing you to incorporate rich, creative elements into your playing and extend your Latin repertoire. Students will learn particular structures eg "El Bordoneo". enabling them to generate melodic improvisation for both hands.
This is a remarkable video of a good teacher at work, taking harpists unused to Colombian music, and insisting on them letting go of their inward reluctance and to make real music and rhythm together.
Required by viewing for all teachers.

I was a bit rushed on the day - so popped in and just filmed a little bit - fly on the wall. Diego is charming and very talented.
