This is "Dolphins" composed by Andrew Furmanczyk at http://www.youtube.com/user/Lypur This is the 1st place submission to the contest that he posted here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkrbJwpTUtw You can get the sheet music and hear his performance at that link.

Here's the results video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9KrmbwfUog

This contest was lots of fun. I was glad I could get to know Andrew's superb little piece; his work really is charming. For my submission, I used the poly-layer style that I have in all my other vids. I've got three B-flat clarinet tracks, but I made sure only to include pitches from Andrew's piece. In other words, no melodic material has been added to the original work, only doubling at the octaves and adding at canon-point. Thanks again to Andrew for opening up his world to us!

  • btw, how is the sound so crystal clear

  • Thanks for the comments. I've got a list of the gear I use in my user profile. The sound quality of the videos has lots to do with that. I also close-mic everything and compress the audio to AAC format at maximum bitrate before I upload it so I'm (ideally) less affected by YouTube's compression. Piano is also a very forgiving instrument for the compression format that YouTube uses, since it is pretty lean on the high frequencies. I also limit digital reverb, since it can add to noise.

  • Congratulations! This video deserves 1st place, awesome playing =)

  • Thanks, you too! Scandinavia!

  • You have put a lot of effort on this one ^^ even though piano may seems to be easy for you. :D Great job on overall clip editing!

  • Great video. I also play the Clarinet. But, I didn't like it. I like the music a lot. I do improv by myself a lot on the piano. I don't really play piano.

  • Wow, pretty awesome...

  • It's edited, hence the clarinet and cut scenes. But nicely done

  • congrats!
