  • I'd take the guitar away and have him lift and level his shoulders to begin with. After lengthening his spine and freeing his neck, balancing his head atop his aligned neck and shoulders. And of course aligning his pelvis.

  • Don Weed is an excellent Interactive Method teacher. I have tried traditional and ITM and would never go back to the former. ITM is so much more accessible.

  • (Part II comment) For those that don't know Don Weed and are tempted to think of him as a showboat, he has a keen sense of the audience and how THEY learn just as he does by teaching. I believe those claiming that this work (group work) is antithetical to Alexander do not know their history. FM clearly led group work and he knew how to ask QUESTIONS (and was not afraid to show off with an audience now and then frankly). If you ever get a chance to study with Don Weed consider yourself lucky

  • What a shame some of you missed the real interaction between the teacher and the student. He did not just place his hands on and feel his way around, he observed (auditorally and visually) and asked QUESTIONS. Then he placed his hands and harmonized, kinesthetically, with him.

  • This is very poor Alexander work. Just look at how terrible the teacher's use is. This kind of showy group work is antithetical to Alexander's basic principles. To be avoided.

  • Look for real Alexander Technique teacher. This kind of group work is antithetical to the basic principles of Alexander's work

  • The video is from the public performance night at our Summer Workshop.

Typical ITM sessions involve 1 - 5 students in a private setting.

  • The teacher seems to be all about being the centre of attention.
