A sample of Mark Morris Dance Group's work from over the years. Book tickets for the mixed programme at www.danceumbrella.co.uk/festival.html
Acclaimed throughout the world, Mark Morris celebrates 25 years as a Dance Umbrella favourite with two programmes showcasing brand new works alongside classics from the companys repertoire. His choreography is driven by his response to music, here ranging from the abundant lyricism of Schubert to the ecclecticism of Charles Ives and the catchiness of American Western swing. Programme One features BEDTIME (Franz Schubert), V (Robert Schumann) and the UK premiere of EMPIRE GARDEN, performed by 15 dancers and set to a score by Charles Ives for strings and piano. The new work VISITATION opens Programme Two, with nine dancers performing to Ludwig van Beethovens Cello Sonata no. 4 in C major. The evening is completed by the jubilant GOING AWAY PARTY, GRAND DUO and the London premiere of EXCURSIONS.
