  • Great documentary. Where was this from?

  • @HoustonDMD This is from a series called "Lost Highway" which was shown on BBC a few years back. I have not seen it repeated and recently found a recording that I had made. The reason for it being posted on youtube, is that I feel that everyone should have a chance to view it. Watch out on my channel for much more of this series.

  • I have just noticed that it has already been posted by kingmojopin0, so maybe you can catch the whole series on his channel.

My version is available in 480p

  • Great uploads Excellent videos, Thank you!

  • I grew up listeing to the Nashville sound records & loved them, i thought it couldn't be beat until i Johnny Cash singing San Quentin & a boy named Sue which led me to the outlaw scene & nothing till now comes close to George Jones, Willie, Waylon, Merle & David Allan Coe. I still look back at the Nashville sound with fond memories though.

  • If Chet and Owen killed country music why did it sell so much? They did change it and put some big city in it so what. As Chet put it his job was to sell records. And they did sell much better than the traditional material. What killed alot of country was when it merged with rock. Both both are still available so there is room for everybody. Personally I like both. I like the old stuff better true enough but I am not the only one who bought records.

  • All roads lead to one....We are COUNTRY...I do not like the "Nashville sound " years.

My father loved them. We never agreed on it..I'm 40 and my father played all the albums and I tolerated it between Lefty,Hank,Jones,Cash, The Hagg, Willie and Waylon. There are still good good boys playin.

My point is we are country and we have the final say especially with the net here..

  • @1950sRockabilly - those 80's and 90's performers just did whatever the radio executives told them to, and aimed country music toward young kids rather than the base that had been with country throughout its reign. In my opinion, bottom line is that COUNTRY RADIO killed Country Music. They stopped playing George Jones, and Johnny Cash, even though they were still releasing hits.

  • @1950sRockabilly - I am not sure that is accurate. They may have conformed to the nashville sound and mixed pop with Country, but there were still enough artists out there keeping traditional country alive, such as George Jones, Ernest Tubb, Merle and so on... If I was to point fingers about what finally killed off country music, I would point toward people like Garth Brooks, he turned the stage into a circus act smashing guitars and so on, and finally killed off the sound traditionalists wanted

  • The nashville Sound = The Death Of Country Music. Chet Atkins and Jim Reeves killed Country music.
