That worked for me ! Thanks !

Reflow on DV series will not last long because of the alloy of the solder originally used. DV series failed chips should be removed and completely reballed with 63/37 leaded ball!!

just did this for my cousins laptop dv2500, heated it up and applied Arctic Silver. It works! Thanks for the video.

Takes maximum 2 weeks and the grafic is one more time defectiv.
The only way is to set in a new Grafik - Ship Nvidia 6150 and change the northbridge.
Believe me - I`m the owner of 3 Compaq V3000, which are nearly the same like the HP DV2000
And I paid - until today - a lot of money for those bulshit repairs like this.
For an excellent repair you must pay about 150.- € ,cheaper will not change chip and northbridge, they are making a reflow or , a little bit better , reballing

Many chinese people sell Nvidia chips on Ebay. Those chips are faked chips!
Do not upload this like video because some people will do the same method as you then these people sell the notebooks then the notebooks will die again at the new owner..and so on...understand?

The Nvidia chips(6000,7000,8000 series and the Nvidia South bridges)are suffer the MANUFACTURING ERROR!NOT SOLUTION!!!!NOT SOLUTION!!!The Nvidia was made 5 million fault chips between 2006 and 2009.
The Nvidia did not made 6000,7000,8000 and South bridges chips after 2009.
The Nvidia problem is not BGA problem.Nvidia GPU failures caused by material problem.
Your notebook goes about 1-2months then die again!
Many notebook technicians thinking about one solution that replaced with a new one.
isn't the reason why the screen stops working because of the poor / faulty nvidia mobile gpu chip model used in this and many other laptops? Wouldn't you need to un-solder and physically replace the gpu chip with another to REALLY completely fix the properly properly? Or are you saying that the fault is never the gpu, rather than the solder joints always going bad?
desultorynz 1 year ago
@desultorynz In some cases it is a faulty GPU, due to the GPU being damaged to constant over-heating. And in that case, the complete replacement of the GPU will be the only solution.
However, in this particular laptop, the GPU is still working, it is only the solder joints which go bad due to the high temperatures.

for dis series its seems that the problems will appear again after some time ....whats about your laptop its still working up to now?
wazamani 1 year ago
@wazamani Yes they will, it is due to the actual design of the laptop. So the fix will work for a while before the problem will arise again, the only way around it is to buy a different model of laptop which does not suffer from poor heat dissipation.

wow you should commit a grave mistake by testing the unit without installing y=the heat sink on the processer or graphic card
lovelytuber 1 year ago
Not at all, it was a few seconds of testing just to see if the screen would turn on. Thermal kinetics would state that the chip will not be able to generate heat fast enough to do any damage.
