He is a male cockatiel, and you can see in the video how is singing the popular carol Jingle Bells.
He imitates my vibratto while whistling, not only a continuous tone.
We taught this bird on the basis of no food reward for his work, only giving caress all the time. This was enough for him.
The procedure for teaching was repeat, repeat and repeat. They learn imitating. He was always very interested, and, in a few days, started to reproduce some notes. One moth later, he was able to execute the full song.
This is our second cockatiel. The first is Lino, male and, also, very talkative. Speaks two languages!. We thought in bring a female to give company and have chicks, but weeks after having the new one at home, we realize "she" was "he". They hate each other :(

Se trata de una carolina macho, y en el vídeo puedes ver como silba el popular villancico Jingle Bells.
En vez de un silbido de un solo tono, imita mi vibratto, lo que le da una característica peculiar poco habitual en estos animales.
Mientras le enseñamos, la única recompensa que obtuvo fueron caricias cada vez que lo ejecutaba, bien o mal. Fue suficiente para él.
El procedimiento de enseñanza fue repetir, repetir y repetir. Aprenden por imitación. Siempre mostró mucho interés, y en pocos días, empezó a repetir algunas notas. En, más o menos, un mes, ya la reproducía bien.
Es nuestra segunda carolina. El primero, Lino, es también muy cantador y hablador. Lo hace en dos idiomas! Pensamos en conseguirle una compañera para que hicieran pollitos. Semanas después de tenerlos juntos, resultó que "ella" fue "él". Se odian entre ellos. :(
