A group from All Saints Catholic Newman Center in Tempe, Ariz. traveled to Agua Prieta, Mexico this summer to learn more about immigration. They visited the roaster for Café Justo, a coffee grower cooperative based in Salvador-Urbina, Chiapas. The growers are working to stem the tide of immigration by selling their coffee directly to the customers. They roast the coffee in the border town of Agua Prieta so that the coffee is as fresh as possible. The Newman Center group also visited Centro de Recursos para Migrantes, an ecumenical outreach effort serving recently deported immigrants.
I worked with Frontera de Cristo last year and this video is beautiful. It makes my heart ache again for the border... for my friends at cafe justo.. at the Migrant Resource Center... at CRREDA.... thank you for creating this remembrance for me. Be well.
