அழகி ஒருத்தி - பைலட் பிரேம்நாத் (1978)

Pilot Premnath (25.10.1978/ Cine India Productions) was an Indo-Sri Lankan joint venture produced by D.M.Chandrasena, Joe Devanand and T.M.Menon. It set the trend for a spate of films being shot in Sri Lanka like nangooram (1979), neelakkadalin OrathilE (1979), mohana punnagai (1981) and raththathin raththamE (1981). Pilot Premnath had Sivaji pairing with popular Sri Lankan actress Malini Fonseka. Besides them, the cast included Sridevi, Vijayakumar, Jayachitra, Jaiganesh, Satyapriya, Premanand, VKR, Thengai Srinivasan and Manorama. The film was directed by A.C.Thirulokachandar. Dialogues were by Aroordas. Sivaji played Premnath, a widower with two sons Ramnath and Raghunath (Vijayakumar and Jaiganesh) and a daughter Kanchana (Sridevi) who is visually impaired. In a paar magaLe paar-like twist, Premnath comes to know that one of the three is not his own child, and the resultant havoc that ravages the household forms rest of the story. MSVs unforgettable ilangaiyin iLam kuyil (TMS/VJ) was justifiably the most popular song in the album. It raced to the first position of Radio Ceylons isai selvam, and settled itself there nonchalantly for many weeks thereafter. azhagi oruthi iLanee vikkiRaa by Jayachandran & LRE was a breezy duet filmed on Jaiganesh & Satyapriya. TMS had the soulful muruganenRa thirunaamam and the (in)famous who is the black sheep.
