Part 1/3 of Operation: Chrono Defense in my C&C Red Alert 2 Hard - Soviet walkthrough.

A long level, mainly due to the timers that have to reach 00:00 and amount of waves the Allies chuck at you.
It's my favourite level in the game, it teaches you to defend much better than Liberty did for the Allies campaign. For this part the main defences you'll need are two Sentry Guns by each of the entrances to your base, as well as Tesla Coils once established. Begin by producing four Engineers and sending them straight east to capture the Outpost and three Oil Derricks, and placing a Refinery there which should be ready by the time you have the buildings. Also begin to crank out those Sentry Guns by each entrance, and if you like a few extra dogs. Send some Conscripts to the north west to garriso and ungarrison the buildings, collecting the crates that you find, also destroy the Propaganda Van to see the whole map. Once you have a Refinery placed in your main base too, build a War Factory here and build a few Flak Tracks to deal with Rocketeers for now (we'll add more later). At this point you should have a reasonable income, but nowhere near good enough to finish the level. Get a second Refinery at both locations, and you want to have three Miners at both bases. Also begin building Tesla Coils at your main base to deal with Grizzlies. Once a Tesla Coil is by every entrance, build some Sentry Guns by your Outpost base, which you should now use as space for Tesla Reactors and two extra War Factories, as well as adequate defence to defend it. The next thing to do is crank out two Apocalypse Tanks by every entrance to your main base, which will later become three. Also place two at the north and two at the south side of your Outpost base. I like to place four by the southern entrance, as it seems to be the main passage of their troops. You should now add a couple more Flak Tracks to your main base and a couple of Flak Cannons at both bases. You should end up now placing two to three Apocalypse Tanks to the road just east of your base, in anticipation of arriving Convoy Trucks

Another thing to consider for external base defence are a few Terror Drones placed near the shift locations, the weak armour of the Allied units will be costly to them, as well as their mass infantry attacks. However I deemed this to be too cheap a tactic, and fancied a challenge, so didn't bother throughout this time.

Luckily there will only be one more three part level (level 10). The rest will be two parts apart from level 9 which will be one.

  • awesome video, sir!! i managed to brute force this level by turtling up and massing apocalypse tanks, sentry guns, tesla coils and flak cannons, but i had no idea about the oil derricks and garrison bonuses - much more elegant solution :D

  • build walls arround ur base and some apoclypes tanks and tha mission will be xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx easy
