  • My son had a weird autism-like condition from which he has recovered. There is no solution that we can attribute the recovery, but music was an important element in it. He loves music, and at the most silent period it was only through music that we could communicate with him.

  • I agree with awaa1134. I am a S.A.H. dad of an Autistic and two Asperger's sons and, as a musician, I KNOW that music therapy IS succcessful with Autistic kids. Autistics often are missing the "internal clock" that most of us have and need the external "beat" to help calm and regulate themselves. I find my sons all have perfect rhythm, no matter the meter.

I have been to teach and demo at the Music Therapy department at Sam Houston U. in Huntsville, TX.

    Excellent, Elizabeth.

  • Loved the bit about music and autism! As the parent of an autistic adult son, I love hearing about everything that is being done to help to improve the lives of these kids! Way to go!!!!
