This is the absolute definitive recording of this beautiful torch song classic. Garland's heartbreaking, emotionally-charged vocal is made so much more effective by Gordon Jenkins' arrangement & choral accompaniment. Judy's ability to act her vocals & move the listener to tears has remained unsurpassed. Another Jenkins' masterpiece of arranging is his 1951 Decca recording of "The Three Bells," backing the famous Andrews Sisters in a very serious & dramatic performance of the Edith Piaf calssic.

I've heard many versions of this song since the 50's and always thought it was... I guess, BLAND. The first time I heard Judy sing it I thought, Oh no, don't do THAT song! Second listening, I thought, Oh my God, so THAT'S what this song is about!
