  • Nice video. I'm Flemish but my French is good enough to hear them diss the Belgians.

I'm sure it has a historic reason, anyone know what it is?

  • The King of Belgium forbade his subjects from joining the Legion.

will tell you that french foreign legion is very reliable,

    they get the job done,

they are real tough soldiers, well trained, good equipment and lot of mental stamina !

like i suppose US marines or rangers are

they are not a special task force like sas or seals

  • Whats the 2nd song called?

  • @billgoldbergmania during the franco-prussian war (1870-1871), the king of Belgium ask the belgian legionnaires not to fight because Belgium was neutral. French government accepted and a verse was add in the song about that. After 1871, Belgian were allowed to fight again.

  • @sasquatchofDU

    c'est le Kirié des gueux

  • What the world really needs to see of the French Foreign Legionnaires is a decisive victory for bragging rights. People are still fumbling over what happened in Dien Bien Phu; and that's not easily forgotten.

  • @astralseeker Thanks for clearing that up. It's funny because I've seen them listed in books about the special forces of the world. I am aware of how old they are as a unit. One could argue that the first rifle units in the British army (c. Napoleonic wars) were special forces, but they've been absorbed into the conventional wing since. I suppose the Foreign Legion are not special forces, just special period.

  • french special ops:

    - gign

    - raid

    - fusillés marins

    - certain paratroopers sections

    etc ...

& by definition, some others unknown to the public & unnamed on youtube :-)

  • @jeffhegarty

no, the legion is a very old section of french army that we send first in priority to any conflict, as ground forces,

probably like "the marines" in US army.

They are composed 60 % of french & 40 % of many other nationalities.

training is very hard, and they are supposed to be really "tough guys".

While the french special ops were created just after the first gulf war (1991),

& are totally different units, maybe less "tough" but far more advanced in equipment,

    & more "sharp" :-)

  • @astralseeker I thought that the Legion are special forces?

  • What is the choral song after Le Boudin?

  • Respect to the French Forgien Legion.
