@joshster89 I think he's just making sure he's in 1st and not 3rd before he takes off? I had a Saturn that was stick, and I sometimes used to put it into neutral then back into first before taking off ( just to make sure that I wasn't still in 3rd gear like I was when I came to a stop)

Wow a 5speed. Those are pretty damn rare, most Corolla buyers get the automatic.

@talldude123 you're doing it while STOPPED which doesn't do anything. Just put it into neutral (when stopped) then into first.

@joshster89 It's good to downshift when slowing down, puts less wear on the brakes.

I drive just like him. Love my manual transmission. Shifting through all the gears even when its not necessary like when slowing down.
