@PadsterDood The reason why you don't want to shave a border terrier is because it is supposed to have two coats. The inner soft coat keeps the terrier dry while the rougher outer coat provides protections when going to ground.

You whining arseholes. You just can't say anything nice can you? Well, I shave my Borders and I don't give a shit what you think about that. It's just purist crap that says Borders should be plucked not shaved because that is how it's been done from day one. I suppose you people also think that wine should always be corked while the rest of the world has progressed to the screw top?

Awwwww thats brilliant.... I want another border but dont think I could cope with five

OH. MY. GOD. I AM SO JEALOUS OF YOU.
I want five Border Terriers!

Cute dogs, but you've ruined their coats!!
hahahah! Padster I whole heartedly agree with you. if that's the way they've always been done and that's the way you want them done, then thats the way to do them. The Borders themselves don't give a hoot which way they're done,

I'm sure. the only difference is that if they're stripped the hair remains coarser and if they're clipped if become softer. that's all. And for the record, I believe that wine should always have a screw top as there is less wine wasted as it can't become 'corked'. Bottoms Up!

BTW if you are referring to Scooby, the reason he is clipped, (Not shaved) is beacuse he has a skin complaint and needs to be kept short otherwise he pulls it out himself. We never shave dogs and unless the owner asks for it we alweays hand strip them as far as they will allow us to. Then we only use thinning scissors on the rest.

we are not ones to put dogs through hell just because we want it to look a certain way. It's character is the most important, not how it looks and I am sure if we were doing something wrong the 60+ border
terriers that regularly come to us for grooming wouldn't return if they were not looking tip top. and don't forget someB. Terriers grow more hair than others thus some will not need facial fur to be touched whereas others will need copious amounts of it.

We have been grooming border terriers for 15 years and I have to let you know that every single one is different and needs different styles of grooming/stripping/clipping and every dog is done in a way that it finds acceptable and comfortable.
