@Gavin84w Yes you can see he is keeping the shank as vertical as he can i have spent thousands of hours ripping with all big dozers when you have 992 or a fleet of scrapers waiting on you you soon get to know the fastest way to get material he seems a bit nervous to reverse the shank over the edge of the face.
@Gavin84w Yes that proves my point you are not trying to cut though the ground you are tying to break it. When the shank is out it takes more power to pull though breaking more of the rock round the shank hence you can rip further apart and increase production
@kom600 You don,t have to buy them, they are free and what they are saying is 100% correct. I have seen a video showing a D9N at idle in 1st gear go along and sink the pick into the ground with it in the vertical position untill the machine stops going forward, then with only adjusting the pitch by extending the top cylinders outward the machine then begins to start moving forward again. No other adjustments were made which truely shows the affect of the angle you have the shank at in the ground
to rite get v feel of v tractor & it'll let u know wen u are abusing it. Another tip with machinery is u will learning new tricks no matter how iong u drive them & if u love ur job u will be good at it.
im refering to v angle pitch of v ripper tyne. lucky here he is in soft material. if he had v ripper angled write under him he would be ripping faster & deeper which also helps keep v boot sharp. Then when v boot starts failing to penetrate turn it over & it will penetrate better then a knew boot for a while.Go to rvasquezcl's channel he has some vids there detailing how to use 4 barrell rippers & showing what happens under v ground wen used correct & uncorrect.

In soft going, leave the ripper out , this breaks the stuff up quicker and better, and I don't buy the tips!
