A modified form of Sanchin kata that was created for my Taekwondo school by an Issinryu grandmaster, the late Ted Vollrath. This is my first time performing this kata in many, many years. I kept my shirt off so that the muscular tension can be seen (hopefully, there's a bit more flab in the way than I would like). In my opinion, this represents the complete opposite end of the spectrum of martial practice from my Taiji, and I have been warned that practicing Sanchin can adversely effect breathing in Taiji practice. In both, one is trying to breathe from the lower Dantian, but it is forced breathing in Sanchin as opposed to the natural flowing breath in Taiji.
This is another vid recorded with my cruddy webcam so it is not the highest quality. I would like to get a better recording set up so that I can get more of a full body image on the records so that the footwork can be seen.
@taijirich My Sifu, Bill Phillips. As for the pre-birth, post-birth breath, since the breathing for the CMC/ZMQ form was not presented to me with those titles I do not have an answer to that. I'm no martial arts expert, or even experienced practitioner, just a student trying to learn. This particular video was recorded to answer some questions about ways to condition the body that did not involve expensive gym memberships.

Who told you that doing this would be detrimental to your practice of Taiji? what breath do you use for Taiji, post-birth or pre-birth?
