OfP believes that a hungry person cannot give concentration on education, sanitation and other development means even if the same is made available free of cost while families having reasonable income send their children to school, have reasonable sanitation and avail other development opportunities. Therefore OfP focuses on income generation of the extremely poor families. Under the income generating projects, OfP has a in-house cattle fattening farm for fattening 42 cattle. This is for motivating agro-based farming for the cause of productivity, profitability and food and nutritional security. The cattle fattening farming of OfP is geared to enhance capacity of rural farmers in cattle production and management so as to benefit them by motivating income generation activities. In one hand this project will help ensure food & nutritional security, and on the other, cattle fattening is most profitable agro-based business that promises around 40% profitability per year meaning a highly potential area of farming for income generation for the farmers and poor families. The OfP expects that this projects will motivate farmers, ensure nutrition and food security and help the farmers come out from the poverty cycle. As an added advantage OfP plans to utilize earnings from this demonstration farm for financing technical & general education and health service of the extreme poor.

Besides, under a 'Family Business' arrangements, OfP collects investments from 14 (fourteen) better off families, each invests Tk. 1,000/- per month on a fully refundable basis with a profit sharing provision. With this fund, OfP purchases cattle and give out to the extremely poor families who cannot afford, after investment, instant repayment of installment of micro-credit like programs. The profits are shared between the investors and the beneficiaries on a 30% and 60% profit sharing basis (30% to the investor and 60% to the beneficiary) supervised by OfP. Under this arrangement a extremely poor family can come out of poverty within a year and make some capital for future investment. This program is open for participation by all.

Out of its in-house cattle fattening, OfP has given out cattle to ten families for fattening purposes on a profit sharing basis and in the coming year OfP wishes to expand this program to benefit 50 families.

Through these projects and programs, the OfP expects enhanced food and nutrition security, increased income, assets accumulation, increased knowledge and influence (education) and healthy livestock farming in the community.
