Back in the day, I actually did respond to Lord British via snail mail, reporting that I had beaten the game and he wrote me back, including a document that he hand signed. I have it framed by my desk at work. Those were the days, eh?

He was using a mod for the PC version of U5 that added rework versions of the music used on the Commodore 64 version of the game, there's a similar mod for the PC versions of U3: Exodus and U4: Quest of the avatar that also add PC conversions of their C64 counter part's music those two games also have mods that will change Exodus's graphics from CGA to EGA and Avatar's from EGA to VGA. The mods are pretty easy to find via google and apply
