Here's "Tonight" as heard in the released film, with Marni Nixon replacing all of Natalie Wood's vocal. Jim Bryant sings for Richard Beymer.

Click on the video response to hear Natalie sing the song herself.

it's so weird that it's not actually the actress who is singing

It's quite common. Do a search for my other video to see how often:

I don't think they despised each other. Natalie was upset that Warren Beatty didn't get the role, so she was simply businesslike with Richard, He has said that they would say hello, start making passionate love on set, and then say goodbye. So it wasn't that she was nasty to him, just that she didn't go out of her way to be friendly.

Beatty wouldn't have been any more believable as a streetwise former gangster. Too white-bread rich preppie looking. The role was miscast as was Wood's role.

True, but have you ever seen a production in which Tony is played as a believable former gang member? Certainly neither Larry Kert nor Matt Cavenaugh fit the bill.

The "other girl" was Marni Nixon, whose name appears in the title of the clip and in the note I included directly beneath the clip.

Beymer may not have seemed like a street tough but I can't buy the womanizing Beatty as street tough Tony who falls in love and is true to just one girl either. Frankly, Beatty seems too Prep School Whitebread. Richard was an Iowa farmboy and it showed but there are some scenes like this one imo that he pulls off well.
