This was an odd game, but I liked it. Loved the soundtrack also. I always wonder if and when they would make a movie for this game based on the character.

@kreeddem Cool thanks. So within the chip there was a bank of drum samples, in addition to the FM capabilities. Could these be then processed through effects like reverb etc, or only as they were? I wonder what GEMS and SMPS were like to use, I can't find much info about them.

@badassundergroundLP to right but sonic 1 has awesome dry sounds drums. also crue ball and desert strike is awesome.

@jazzmunky Sampled PCM at 16000Khz 8-bit Mono

Whoever composed this song was a wizard with the Genesis's Yamaha sound chip. The bass and drums and amazing. Also I love how many unique movements this tune goes through before coming to a complete loop. But the whole soundtrack for this game was great.

I've never played this, but God damn the music is fantastic!

How come the YM2612 had such good drums? Were they sampled rather than FM? If they were synthesized live, were there drum presets that composers could use? or did they program the drum synths as they went along?

These are the best sounding drums of any Sega Genesis game.

Man, this music kicks SO MUCH ASS.

I nostalgia'd all over my keyboard...
But I do love that melancholy feel the song has.
Best version by far.
