Here we have a shot of the French Cinema machine at work on the banks of the Seine River in Paris. Over 500 Million Euros of taxpayer money is funnelled into the cinema machine in France. Welfare Money to keep the French Cinema alive. The French government gives away literally millions of dollars a year to make films. Here is one of them.
@Archangelista Your point is that for the sake of "jobs" (local ones) we should be willing to sacrifice quality. In other words, the products that we purchase will be poorly made but we should buy them anyway because it's our neighbor who makes them. We should buy Reliant K Cars (remember those?) even though the Toyotas and Hondas were much more reliable and better built. We should, in fact, subsidize local manufacturing of crap and put tarifs on quality foreign imports. Dat yer point, Larry?

your point is duly noted, however, have you ever wondered how much money citizens send OUT OF FRANCE by going to see Hollywood movies? By protecting the local film industry against the otherwise undisputable domination of american movies, your government ensues that at least SOME of the money used by the population to pay their film tickets stays IN THE COUNTRY and therefore sustains A LOT of jobs (because film production is very workforce-intensive).
see my point?
