  • I have one small comment starting periods doesn't guarantee creating life. there can be issues making that impossible. its difficult to not blame yourself if you have periods but cannot conceive

  • True, that is why at the end of the birthing video about couples who are unable to have childeren...regardless if you can or cannot have childeren...It is still a cross roads that should be acknowlaged.

  • I can still plan my children's coming of age! Woot! Woot! :) That's one passage I haven't missed.

I wasn't Pagan for their births, although I certainly wish I had been. I told Doug just a few days ago if we're ever lucky enough to have another baby, I intend to do everything right from the start.

I really love these videos, Flora. So helpful and informative.

BTW, I started my cycle singing on a stage at my parent's Methodist church. Whatcha think that means? LOL

  • that may be... but she's speaking in general. not specific problems with someone's reproductive system....

  • This video makes me wish I had grown up in a pagan family. It's sad that society doesn't largely acknowledge rites of passage like these. I'm 19 and still conflicted as to whether I'm a girl or a woman. Different things are expected of me from different people, and there was never a moment in time when I was told I had finally crossed that bridge into womanhood.

And my first period was not a pleasant experience at all. I was very young. My mother was shocked. I spent that first night crying.

  • When I First Got My Cycle I Was Given A Multi-Colored Designed Sculpture From My Grandfather And Never Told Me Why He Gave Me It

  • why is coming of age connected with candlemas?

  • you have a really nice tanny glow in this video :)

  • I kind of wish I had some sort of coming of age type thing... kinda makes me feel lost as to where I am in life in terms of being a boy and a man.

  • hey, our family also recognize the age of 13 yrs old as one being matured, & we're not even jewish...
