I have had 2 saab 9-5 Aero with over 300 hkr so I know how them goes.To become of with one M3 is required 300+ hkr.And one orginal does not have a sigh against an one m3.It perhaps hits one bmw 330 231 hkr.And this Golfen goes uniformly against one 9-5 Aero 300 hkr between 50-200 km/h.So it you type must va a guy that does not know a shit about cars.

i work for SAAB (no bullshit i actually do at a dealership in cardiff) an i gotta say a 2.3 aero would kill that so no offence but he let you have that (or one of the famouse engine lights was on!!) :P

Also dont forget the midrange climb (40-90 mp/h) on a SAAB aero is faster than a Porsche 911 Turbo

Having owned a few Saab's now including 9-3 Aero, 9-5 Aero and knowing someone who has a Golf V GTi, a Stage One GTi is around 250bhp with a lot less weight than the 9-3 or 9-5... the Golf V GTi stage 1 is slightly quicker than both standard Aero's.

Saab Aero's are quick, but are by far the last line in performance!

The Golf V's to look out for are the Edition 30's... stage1 make 300+bhp, just from software, thanks to a downtuned S3 engine under the hood.

The SAAB Aero from that period of time was usually equipped with either 230,250 or the most powerfull of the pack 260hp.

As many of the comments suggest, the SAAB would easilly pull away from a simple Golf V GTI even with a stg1 mounted on the VW.

The SAAB - engine is putting out far more torque, than the golf. With the ekstra tuning done on the VW, the power output would only be close to the SAAB, not greater.

Unless the Golf is tuned to a stg 2 or 3?
