One Eye becomes a leader simply because people are in rough times, they're weak and unintelligent, confused and hungry for a truth they can't put together on their own. He never speaks, he's never proven to be chosen by the gods and the gods are of course still unproven and hiding in the sky.
And yet they all fear him, and even claim him to be of heaven or hell.
It's a pretty good explanation of how a third of the world could believe a dead jesus christ could be the son of god for no reason.

In Scandinavian mythology, Valhalla is a majestic, enormous hall located in Asgard, ruled over by the god Odin. Chosen by Odin, half of those that die in combat travel to Valhalla upon death, while the other half go to the goddess field Fólkvangr.

Lawl there's nothing called "old Norwegian" per se, All Scandinavian countries spoke the same language if so with different dialects - I.E Norse. This is kinda general how it was: Danes invaded England and France, Norwegians discovered America and Swedish Vikings went east and savaged Russia and than marched all the way down to the Black sea and the Byzantines.... Though that is almost a criminal simplification.
