i do this but i bring my foot down, not towards home, but straight down and before it touches the ground i rotate towards second. It hasn't been called a balk...

I recommend anyone who trys this to not break your hands like this because that is a balk! You can’t break your hands like your going home and then turn and throw. You must turn towards second base and then break your hands.
