Jazz Guitar Lesson - Joe Pass - Autumn Leaves Lesson 2 Part 1

Link to my Jazz guitar lesson site: http://www.thejazzchameleon.com Instead of scoring this transcription of Autumn Leaves from Joe Pass' album "Unforgettable", I started this series of videos which will attempt to show you step by step how to play this piece and also explain some of the theory behind what Joe Pass is doing. To the best of my knowledge I have correctly transcribed the piece, but I am not 100% sure, but that is not the point of these videos anyway; they are mostly intended to give a look at how a master like Pass would approach such an arrangement.

how do you get so good at transcribing? I would kill to be able to figure something like that out

i'm not that good really, i just have a lot of patience! the best thing to do is start with simple stuff, and first listen to what you want to transcribe a lot so you get it in your head. then put your headphones on and go note for note. also the more you get acquainted with the way an artist plays the easier it is to transcribe their stuff. i've studied joe pass from books for some time now and now it is easier for me to predict the fingerings/inversions/melodies he would use. hope this helps!
