Well, Resistance 3 is said to take place during the World War 2 era, though i'm not sure.

@TheJayortiz From what I've seen in Retribution, protocal is that any human, Military or civilian, who is in the process of being converted is to be shot immediatly. From here there are two Ideas in my head. Either one, to prevent the Chimera gaining any knoledge of Military outposts, and also being used in an enemy army, and the second is out of mercy. to prevent them form decending into hell, as they would call it.
