Faculty at UMass Amherst are using the Personal Response System (PRS) to improve their teaching in hundreds of courses. This simple, easy-to-use technology allows students to use handheld devices called "clickers" to submit answers to questions during a lectures. This interactivity stimulates discussion, helps faculty gauge a class knowledge of a topic, keeps students focused during lectures and allows faculty to ask homework-related questions to make sure students are staying current with reading.
