  • I agree! this is perfection! Nobody's version could top this, but Arleen Auger comes close.

  • ;)!

  • This was beautifully sung. Tone quality--just gorgeous. Technical perfection on this piece belongs to Cecilia Bartoli (not a soprano, however). Bartoli also invests an enthusiasm that makes us feel that, by George, she means HALLELUJAH!

  • That's a 27-year-old Kiri I think :) She was a lighter soprano at that time (as in, still lyric soprano, but more light-lyric).

My favourite recordings of hers come from her late 20s to early 40s period. It's so refreshing to hear.

  • It was boring like someone about to fall asleep people get so caught up in the academia of classical music that they forget it also has to honor Mozart who was filled with a heart praising creation this piece should be filled with ecstasy

  • Greatest composer ever.

  • The comments on your page and your videos really don't do you any service. I actually listened to some of them and wished I didn't. Technique and musicality go hand in hand, you can't just 'transcend technique'. I don't think you can use your definition/approach of music to comment on this video. Your styles are totally different, and Kiri actually sings.

  • I'm just saying that my whole approach to music is different. I have the unique combination of a natural talent and I've never taken lessons. So my singing transcends technique in a way. I think the vocal work on my videos will bear this out.

  • are you saying that you know more about vocal technique than one of the most well-loved operatic sopranos in the world? She may not be perfect technically here, but I reckon it's an impressive feat for someone so young. And no one can doubt that she had excellent technical and musical control later on, and still does today.

  • lol though I do not doubt the identity of the singer, there are many points where it doesn't actually sound like Kiri at all, especially the lightness and the texture XD

  • The runs at around 1:26 to 1:46 are amazing.

  • I love her lighthearted interpretation.
