"Happy" was the theme we were given by the organizers for this year's F5 Re:Play Fest, held in April in NYC, to create this edition's pieces, probably the hardest thing to convey in any artistic expression. After a good deal of introspection, and teaming up with awesome motion graphics artist Gerardo del Hierro, we decided that happy wasn't happy for Physalia unless pliers, microchips and a bit of soldering were involved, and with this idea we resolved to create the happiest machine Physalia has built to date.

  • @anim8ordude I dont think it is a fake, how th ball are moving with the magnet is pretty accurate

  • Fruit Ninja: the exaggerated version

  • @capricorn8 That just seems weird though, because the specular highlights on the balls are visible from that angle. Why would they just decide not to let the shadows render?

Anyway, I figure it's fake, seeing as they probably just added a gravity source just under where the magnet is and ran a simulation. I know you can do it because I've spent a fair bit of time with 3ds Max's reactor engine and the new MassFX system.

I actually have some matchmoved footage somewhere, I might do this xD

  • @anim8ordude There are two distinct shadows from the box on the floor - one high above and to the left, and one from the right behind and above - yup I looked .. still fake ;)

  • @capricorn8 Have you actually looked at the light source? There would be no visible shadows on the box, the light source is in front of the box.

  • I like how there are no shadows in the box from the balls.. nice VFX... C4D

  • @awellam how its fake?

  • 200$??? fck wanna resell it to me.

  • I want to work there.
