TRAM is the most popular of all reconstruction options, especially for a woman with excess belly fat or an abdomen that has been stretched out by pregnancy. You end up with a "tummy tuck"; as a fringe benefit of surgery. Also, abdominal tissue feels most like a natural breast to anyone touching you.

  • Thank you for this video. I will have this procedure very soon (waiting for my surgery date) and even though I know it will be very very painful, I look forward to this part of my journey to get back to my life.

  • If your body is right for this procedure, I recommend doing it. I didn't want to have an implant so I chose the tram flap after my mastectomy. Painful, yes. Scars, yes. But, having my own tissue used as opposed to an implant was my preference. It's now been 4 years and I'm doing very well! And I do consider it a tummy tuck. I haven't had this flat a belly since my 20's. The flat tummy made me want to look better so I also lost 30 lbs. I think this was "life changing" in a positive way.

  • @huyup123456

Yes depending on the expertise of the surgeon I am scared to death!!!!

  • Unfortunately I had this surgery and my blood supply didn't get to the tissue and it went necrotic. this was very gross then I had to have a latismus dorsi surgery which is still not finished and the started on Feb. 22/11. If I had to have to do all over again I would just have my breasts removed.

  • scuse me but i have no idea what is going on, what is going on

  • amazing, i had this done 17 yrs ago !! painful but better than a fake something in ur body. scars are very faint to invisable after about the 5th yr.

  • I've taken care of a few patients who have had this procedure. I think it's a wonderful means of reconstruction after mastectomy! Congratulations to all who have had it and are doing well!

  • five and a half, wow your tooo slow :)))

  • @Viruspirate She had a mastectomy. They even remove the nipple because it's associated with milk delivery and is at risk for cancer, too.
