I DO NOT THINK YOU ARE teaching these kind of equations to elementary KIDS..the reason why i am saying this is because only with elementary kids you use stars, apples, etc..... i learned these when i was in 7 grade....

Im sorry to say this, but your really making it hard for your students to learn, by teaching them your method. It would be easier, if you just simplify it, and DONT use stars!!!! why do u need to use stars, it just makes it complicated.
