Cop brings a gun' to a snowball fight

Police in the US are investigating a detective who appears to draw his gun during a mass snowball fight on the streets of Washington DC. Video taken at the scene shows people pelting a man with snowballs after his car, a Hummer, gets stuck in the snow. The man - not in uniform at the time - then appears to pull out a gun while an angry crowd gathers and chants: "Don't freak out to a snowball fight." DC police refused to comment, telling the BBC an investigation was under way. 'Don't shoot' At one point on the video - shown on YouTube - the man identifies himself as a "detective", but refuses to give his full name. Then he proceeds to admit to pulling his gun. "Yes I did because I got hit by snowballs," he tells angry residents who demand to know his badge number.

First off i'd like to say that as i Live not far from where this happened that the cop was out of line it is supposed to be att a time of life endagerment or else last possible moment to pull they're weapon i think the the officer in questions should have faced repremand or charges for assualt 2 which is pulling a weapon without need his life was obviously not in danger he's abusing his badge

absolutely the cop was wrong to even get out the car... was he worried about the damage that a snowball can do to a HUMMER!!!! already half covered in snow? its silly. and the only reason he got out the car waving a gun is because he knows he's one of the rare people carrying a gun and he wants to abuse that power..

Having a snowball fight with your friends is not illegal. But if you are disrupting a public intersection or worse if you are throwing snowball at random cars/people, of course that is assault. Why would that not be illegal

In my opinion, the cop was right in the situation. The crowd there were obvious hazard to drivers and pedestrians. So what if he drew his gun? Those people just assaulted him. It doesn't matter if its with a snowball or whatever. Meh just my opinion
