I am perhaps one of the most liberal person any one of you will meet, but I believe Ron Paul was the Republicans greatest chance of winning the election of 2008.

He is more than articulate and informed. He's LOGICAL, a feature sorely lacking from your average teabagging Republican nowadays.

I disagree with a large portion of his beliefs, but I think we can all agree that he is a consistent intellectual, worthy of serious consideration by anyone interested in the direction of this country.

what intelligence reforms would you suggest?

Increase of budget?

Increase of personal?

Im sure you already know that we have a substantial CIA and dozens more intelligence services that all together have a budget of just under a trillion annually

It has nothing to do with lack of resources. It has to do with the freedom to actually USE those resources. Under Clinton the intelligence community had insane restrictions placed on it for what they could do to keep us safe, and these were called to Clinton's attention on several occasions, particularly by his FBI director, Louis Freeh. He refused to make the necessary changes on "civil liberties" grounds, but all he ended up protecting was terrorists' right to secretly plot attacks

Yes of course the "terrorists" would be able to take down an entire nation of 300 million with their thousands of soldiers, no modern army let alone group of radicals could take over the US, it is impossible even if we had half the military strength we have now.
What logical reason do we have to be in the middleeast anyways, why do the majority of the rest of the world hate us? Those billions of people must be wrong

First of all, no quotation marks necessary or acceptable around the word terrorists. People who carry out politically motivated attacks that deliberately target civilians ARE terrorists, pure and simple, and I never saw any figure saying "the majority of the rest of the world hate us." Care to show me? Beyond that, what is popular is not always right-what is right is not always popular. Logical reason for being in the M.E.--how about keeping those psychos from riding roughshod over the west?

And no, they wouldn't be able to take us down if we actually USED the resources at our disposal to stop them, but using Ron Paul's definition of a 'national security policy'--i.e. "We leave them alone and they'll leave us alone"--you damn well better believe they could destroy us. All it would take is a few nukes. Get with it.
