  • Your lyrics add to the debate of whether it's "walking on a wave's chicane" or "walking on a wave she came." In various sources, Lynne has been quoted (accurately? who knows) that it's the "chicane" line. But who cares. It's a great song.

  • @Rollin558 Wow. I didn't know there was a debate, thanks for letting me know. 8-D And I agree, it IS a great song.

  • Cool, what program did you use to make this?

  • @MacHamish Thanks. I used Windows Movie Maker. Glad you enjoyed the video!! 8-D

  • thanks for the lyrics.

  • Your welcome! Thanks for leaving a comment.

  • I think he thought he saw a mermaid. huh uh. I do.

  • It is chicane as his voice ends with an N and starts with CH; there are other live performances where it is more obvious as you watch his lips, and also I say he is referring to a jetty, or in other words a rock wall used to break the waves in certain places and in which case he may have actually seen a girl and wrote the song.

    Great song.

  • @mgrella63

Probably a girl (THE OCEANS DAUGHTER!!!)

  • @Orb37

    I totally agree with you!

    A-Ha did not either.....

  • i always thot that chicane wasnt a word,

then someone said it meant "to resort to tricks"

anyway i believe he's saying "on a wave she came"...

but VERY GOOD VIDEOS ,,, and i mean to coz NO CONTROVERSY lol

  • LOVE THIS SONG!! But what is it that he cant get out of his head? ELO was Amazing!!!

  • I've always loved this beautiful, dreamy song!

  • ELO never got the credit they deserved.

    Ditto, Earth Wind & Fire.

  • my favorite band in the whole world.

  • @Rollin558 @Rollin558 "Walking on a wave she came" makes more sense for many reasons. Firstly, if it's the ocean's daughter she'd come from the ocean. Secondly, it rhymes with the following line, in step with the rest of the song. Finally, chicane means trickery and is used to mean a tricky part of a racetrack as well in formula one.
