OMG, is the Fifth Column really that strong within us? They're gonna blow that damn fault. I just know they are. Then they can blame everything on the disaster, Obama can declare martial law, and we will descend into a new dark age.

Why does it take 250 TONS of explosives to breach a hole in a levee that has 60 feet of water pressing it already?

When levies and flood restriction devices are put into place, it is a calculated risk factor. They plan on a worse case secnario (rain fall per hr and x amount of area involved). Some of the "rain fall" has surpassed calculas, since the levies were designed and built new construction added to water-shed issues. The levies have deterioration issues just like anything manmade. They will not have to blow any levy, it will wash out on its own, or they will cut a water path, pending weather forcast.

Well it all depends on what the outcome was at the court yesterday as to whether they will blow the levee or not..

They may be thinking, that will prevent some of the problems that will develop down stream. In a few days all of that VERY high level of water will be causing flood problems down river.
