  • i like his 34/2, but i think hamish milne has a bit more power in it in his complete skazki recording. berezovsky on the other hand masterly handles the complex contrapuntal voices and makes each of them transparent and easy to follow. his dynamic control is remarkable, especially in 26/3, those p or pp passages aren't any less differentiated than others, quite amazing. oh but it would have been great if you had cut the video between pieces rather than in the middle of some.

  • @Sorcerer88 In the interview, Berezovsky does mention that his interpretations are what he thinks the composer intended. People have different visions, I guess.

  • Berezovsky is an unbelievably fine pianist in this recital, I've probably watched this video 30 times! What a badass! Some of Medtner's most characteristic pieces whose inherent magic is thoroughly realized.

  • I have a CD of Berezovsky playing some of these.....absolutely magical.
